After months of preparation, Student Group Services is so thrilled to announce that Fall Clubs 2021 is officially upon us! To finish off our Clubs Fair blog series, this week we have a list of last minute reminders for both students and clubs who will be attending Clubs Fair this year.
Take our quiz: This is the perfect quiz to take once or more to get a grasp of exactly which clubs we offer and plan who to see. For students, this gives you a great opportunity to get the names of specific clubs that are in your field of interest. If you’re a club executive, the quiz can give you a great chance to see the interests of people who would be recommended to meet your club!
Know your dates: If you only remember one thing after reading this blog post, we highly recommend it’s the dates of the Fair! The in-person Clubs Fair is happening between September 1st to 3rd from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Our virtual Clubs Fair runs from September 1st to 3rd, and 7th to 10th on the same schedule. Here’s a hot tip for you: plan when you want to go to Clubs Fair before you’re actually there! That way you won’t miss out on any exciting opportunities.
Prepare for your format: Going to the in-person Fair will look a little different from the virtual Clubs Fair this year. Some clubs will only be at one of the fairs, so we recommend going to both to make sure you get the chance to meet with everyone! The virtual Clubs Fair will be held on BearsDen and involves Zoom and Google Meets, so make sure you have a good internet connection! The in-person Fair will involve a lot of quick conversations and walking so be ready with comfortable shoes.
Check the weather: Let’s be honest here, we live in Alberta so who knows what the weather will actually be in early September. It could be 25° and sunny or a snowy -10° and no one will bat an eye. The best thing you can do is check the weather before you come down to make sure you’re dressed for the occasion! Our recommendation is to bring layers if you’re going to be at the Fair for a while, that way if the weather changes you’re still all set.
Take a deep breath: Clubs Fair can sometimes be overwhelming for students and club executives alike, so remember to take a second and breathe. You’ve made it to Clubs Fair, and all that’s left is to get out there, meet new people and have fun! In our opinion, Clubs Fair is also one of the official hallmarks that school is back in session. Let’s take that in stride and make this a great year.
If you still have questions or want an in-depth look at which clubs you should join, wow do we have the answer for you! Student Group Services will be running a Week of Welcome orientation workshop where we will be giving an in-depth look at which clubs would be the perfect fit for you. To find out more information check out the UASU website.
After so long away from campus we can’t wait to see everyone again at Clubs Fair, so make sure you come on down and chat!
