We’re officially two weeks away from the start of Fall Clubs Fair 2021! So far we’ve shared  what you can expect from the Fair this year, but you may still be wondering if you should go. There are a lot of benefits to students who attend Cubs Fair, and hopefully by the end of this post we’ll have you excited to go!

Did you know that the University of Alberta hosts over 450 clubs?! That can be really overwhelming to students, especially when you’re trying to figure everything out on your own. The easiest way to avoid that is by coming to Clubs Fair and checking them out! Clubs Fair gives you a great opportunity to meet club executives and decide what specifically interests you within the realm of your hobbies. Because we offer so many clubs, it can be hard to narrow down which ones are the best fit for you. An extra tip we recommend is filling out our club's fair quiz to see what might interest you.  For example, there are over 10 groups alone that focus on medicine and wellness.  By talking to these groups, you can figure out which one is right for you!

One of the benefits of having so many clubs to join is that you never really know what will pique your interests! This is the best opportunity to get a real sense of the clubs offered on campus. Many students go to Clubs Fair with a plan for which clubs they want to talk to and end up surprising themselves by joining one outside of their normal interests. Joining a club outside of your comfort zone can be exciting and a fun change of pace, especially for upper year students with set routines.

With over 37,000 students, the university campus can feel enormous compared to one individual student.  The best way to feel more connected is by joining student clubs! These groups are a great way to form your own little community on campus and provide a great opportunity to meet people with similar interests. With everyone being back on campus for the first time in a year and a half, joining student clubs will be a great way to make new friends. They are also a fun chance to expand beyond your academic bubble to get a bit of a break from the weekly school grind. Let's be honest, university can be incredibly stressful for students. Ease this struggle by joining a student group!

Aside from the social benefits, clubs are also an excellent opportunity to set your future up for success! A lot of student groups are centred around volunteering, which can be an excellent chance at skill building in a real life setting. Volunteering is also a great way to boost your resume and help you stand out when applying for jobs. Many clubs on campus also provide opportunities for networking within your chosen field. This can help you build contacts within your field, and possibly even help you get a job post-university! Joining a student group can ultimately help you shine like the star you are.

It's clear that returning to campus this fall is going to look a little different for everybody! This doesn’t mean that you can’t still be involved on campus, and we here at Student Group Services have made sure that you’re covered no matter where you are. If you want to stay up to date with any new information being released about the fair, be sure to check out the website. With Fall Clubs Fair being both online and in-person, there's really no reason not to go!
