The Students’ Union Building is here for you 24/7 throughout exam season. Not only is SUB a great place to relax, grab a snack, stay caffeinated, restock study supplies, or borrow a board game when you need a little break–SUB also has a bunch of study spots all over the building to suit your needs! Whether you’re looking for a shared space to work with others, or a quiet little nook to study alone, SUB has got you covered.

Lower Level SUB

The lower level of SUB has a ton of great spaces to study, depending on what you’re looking for. Study in the bean bag chairs or at one of the many tables in the Atrium if you want to enjoy the sunlight from the giant windows and don’t mind background noise. You can also find a few tables by the elevators where you can work to a soundtrack of what’s playing on CJSR. For a more communal space, there are a bunch of couches and benches by the University Bookstore. If what you really need is a quiet space, you’ll definitely want to check out the Carlson Construction Quiet Lounge (SUB 0-90).

The lower level is also a great choice if you need to use SUBprint’s print and copy machine, which is accessible 24/7. When you and your friends need a much-deserved study break, you can also take your ONEcard to InfoLink SLC and borrow a board game!

Main Floor SUB

This is your campus living room. Score a spot by the fire for a cozy study sesh, spread out your stuff at one of the tables, or use one of the available laptop stands from a couch. This spot lets you enjoy some sunlight from the Atrium windows, relax to some water sounds from the water feature, and gives you easy access to the food court, SUBmart (for all your Redbull needs), the University bookstore and the pharmacy.

Just north of the food court you’ll find even more tables and bench seating, as well as the Alumni Room where the closed doors can help block out some of the general noise. Like the piano.

Second Floor SUB

If you’re not someone who takes the pedway from SUB to AgFor very often, you might not realize there’s a quiet little spot in this hallway with some couches. From the top of the stairs or the elevator on the second floor, go to Dinwoodie Lounge and turn left, then follow the hallway around the corner. And if you’re someone who has been studying in this spot because you thought no one knew about it, I’m so sorry if I just ruined it.

Sixth Floor SUB

This is a great place to enjoy some excellent views of campus while you work. The east and west sides of the 6th floor have a ton of table and couch spaces where you can settle in to study, and blinds you can close to keep the glare off your screen.

While not a study space, SUB is also home to an Interfaith Centre on the 3rd floor (SUB 3-02). So if proximity to a prayer or meditation space is important to you while you study or write assignments, we’ve got that too.

To enter SUB after hours, just bring your ONEcard to access the secured entrances from 10PM to 6:30AM.

Please note that SUB will be closed for the holidays starting December 24 at 5PM, and will re-open at 7AM on January 2, 2026.

We wish you all the best on your final exams and assignments. You’ve got this!
